How to set up and use the new NetModem version 2.0

 Needed items:

NetModem version 2.0 available at http://www.allensoftware.com
Fossil Driver version 1.46 available at http://www.digsys.se

Note: I could not get BNU or X00 to correctly initialize the modem
in my BBS software. The author of NetModem has suggested using it.

If you have any previous installations of NetModem (16) or version 1.4
you must completely remove the program and use the utility called FIX.ZIP
This utility will remove NetModem from your registry in Win9x. Also re-boot
 before starting any installation.

Un-zip NETM_2A2.ZIP into a temp directory and run Setup.exe to begin the
installation. After completion and re-booting your computer. You will need
to go to "Settings" and your "Control Panel" to set up NetModem.

There are basically 5 sections and you want to use a Comm port that your
not using, as this will be a "Virtual Port"

 Section 1: Server

[ ] Start as system service [ ] Explicit bind to address
            [ ] Suppress splash screen [ ] Allow unknown hosts *
            [x] Auto-minimize on startup [ ] Display busy file *
[x] Enable spinning globe [ ] Display offline file *
[x] Server logging [x] Fake activity
[x] Server activity [10] minute intervals
               [x] User activity
               [x] Winsock activity [x] Enable Auto-News
               [ ] Event activity * [ ] Not ready! *

            [x] Retrieve local host info

               Advanced

Available IRQ [9] Ring count [3]

Internal cache size TX/RX buffer size
                [ 2048KB ] [ 2048KB ]

 * meaning not used or disabled.

The above is pretty much the default settings. Don't check "Start as system
service" as there is a problem saving your configuration settings. What
will happen is as you re-boot the computer. An error message will pop up
warning you that NetModem is not properly configured and you must go to the
Control Panel to configure it. Leave the box un-checked and you will be
 fine.

Please note that the "Available IRQ" is adjustable and you need to select
one that in not in use.

         [ ] Call Block * [ ] Display duplicate file *
         [ ] Call Forwarding * [ ] Display blocked file *

any ports your using like a mouse or modem. Make a note of the com
and Base/hex address as these settings must be used in your BBS software
 settings.

While this section does offer sound, I noticed it didn't work. Personally
I would recommend to disable this if you like getting a good night's sleep.

 Setting up your BBS Software.

I need to speak in General as every BBS software package is different and
 some are easier than others.

NodeModem (Demo/Shareware) version needs to be NODE 1

What I did for my regular dial-in users. I configured my Front-end Mailer
and BBS software as Node 2 and made Node 1 a "Telnet" only node.
