FULL STORY ======================================================================
Its one of my favorite times of the year, award season, and now that both the BAFTA nominations and Oscars shortlist have been revealed, the race is officially on for the biggest movies of the year. While both lists have a lot of crossover, for me, the BAFTAs are the ones getting things right.
As well as a record-breaking 16 Oscar nods , Ryan Cooglers Sinners racked up 13 BAFTA nominations, joining One Battle After Another (14) and Marty Supreme (11) as the most-nominated movies of the year. But there were two performances, one each from the latter movies, that were unrecognized by the Academy and Im struggling to find forgiveness.
Though I very much enjoyed the performances of supporting actress nominees
Amy Madigan ( Weapons ), Wunmi Mosaku ( Sinners ), and of course Teyana
Taylor ( One Battle After Another ), Odessa Azion ( Marty Supreme ) and Chase Infiniti ( One Battle After Another ) are my acting performances of the year. Despite getting shunned at the Oscars, they both secured a BAFTA nod each
and Im gunning for one actress in particular. Odessa Azion, bring home the gold Odessa A'zion at the 2026 Golden Globe awards (Image credit: Getty

Coming out of the movie theater after watching a screening of Josh Safdies Marty Supreme , I felt equal parts stressed, exhilarated, and love-struck by everything that movie had to offer. Timothe Chalamet (who was breath-taking, by the way) had me in floods of tears, but his co-star Odessa Azion matched his mastery.
Prior to watching the movie, my knowledge of Azion was very sparse. I had
only seen her name on the cast list for Rachel Sennotts new HBO Max show I Love LA , but now Im excited to see even more of her in the future.
To avoid spoilers, Azions performance in Marty Supreme is truly mesmerizing. You can tell she out of her way to really understand the deepest parts of her character Rachel childhood friend of Marty (Chalamet) and all-round powerful woman with a complex, yet lovable nature. Those of you whove watched Marty Supreme will know exactly what Im talking about, but if you havent then youre in for a treat.
My obsession with Odessa Azion as a rising star speaks for itself, but Im not blind to the tough competition shes up against at this years BAFTA ceremony, she sits in the same category as Wunmi Mosaka and Teyana Taylor the latter
of whom just won the Golden Globe.
Which of the two awards do you think got this year's nominations right?
